In this personal and intimate conversation, Michelle will share insights on the link between inclusion and performance, as well as challenging the audience to explore ways to foster belonging. Through her lived experience, she’ll offer leadership lessons on how to shift from an ideology of representation to inclusion, and the iterative process that all organizations need to explore to ensure true equity.

Michelle Gethers is a Culture Architect & Impact Accelerator devoted to making an impact on leadership, equity and economic mobility solutions.As former Chief Diversity Officer and Head of Corporate Responsibility for Visa, and as the former Vice Chair of the Visa Foundation she led the company’s global strategy on philanthropy, inclusive and diverse talent, social impact and ESG/sustainability. She is a lifelong advocate for economic mobility and how it can establish generational change for individuals and communities. Prior to joining Visa, Michelle served as President and CEO of the United Way of Greater Greensboro where she and her team focused on partnerships to end poverty.

During her 20-plus years at American Express, Michelle held a variety of roles as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Card Operations and provided leadership in the US, Canada, Philippines, and India. She also has experience as an entrepreneur operating a consulting firm and as a certified public accountant.

Michelle is enthusiastic about sharing her lived experiences with audiences around the world. Her accomplishments have been featured in Ebony, Fortune, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, on CNBC and TEDxGreensboro.

Michelle serves on the board of her alma mater, Long Island University. A published author, her book, The Next Level, presents a perspective on leadership and faith. She is a New York City native, and currently lives in Atlanta, GA, as the proud mother of two children.
